Regular maintenance is a crucial component to extending the life of your deck. Waiting until signs of deterioration can be too late and could require a full rebuild. Aside from the yearly wear, it is important to note that building codes have changed for safety requirements. It is estimated that 60 percent of the 45 million deck structures in America have safety issues. The following are keys to a safe deck and a few tips to keeping your deck safe and looking good.

RESTORATIONS

A deck restoration is another method to give your deck a second chance. Restoration project includes a thorough chemical wash to remove debris, mold and mildew. The next step includes tightening loose boards and replacing decayed boards. The third step is our application of Polymeric sand to bring wood back to life. Lastly, stain and seal the deck with a quality stain and sealer for an extended life. Like resurfacing, it is important to inspect the structure first to see if a resurface is the best option for your deck.

REPAIRS

Doing repairs to a deck can increase the life of your deck and will ensure a safe space. Some common repairs include replacing a railing section that has deteriorated, replacing stair treads, deck boards, replacing stair sections, or even raising and supporting a sagging deck.

RESURFACING

Resurfacing is a great way to give your deck a second chance and bring it back to life. Resurfacing is a process where we strip the deck down to the framing and install new decking and railing. This process leaves your deck looking like a new one much quicker and for a fraction of the price. Resurfacing can also be an opportunity to upgrade from a wood to composite deck. Although resurfacing is an excellent option, it is important to inspect the deck prior to ensure the existing framing is in good condition to be reused. If you are unsure if your deck is capable of being resurfaced, contact a specialist to be sure you’re not wasting money rather than saving.

OUR PROCESS

Inspection and consultation: we start by examining the deck to identify current and potential problems. After the inspection, we advise you on the best treatment options to make an informed decision.

Deck cleaning: We use pressure and/or chemical cleaning techniques to remove dirt, mildew, stains, or any pollution on the exterior wood. We also address wood deterioration, like loose rails or boards and splitting by replacing or repairing the affected sections.

Deck sanding: After cleaning, we let the deck dry completely for about 48 hours and use a sander alongside the proper grit of sandpaper to remove the existing coat.

Deck Coating: Based on personal objectives, preference, or situation, we apply paint, stain, or sealer to protect and offer a new look to your deck.

Cleanup: Our final step is cleaning up the area and disposing all used supplies, including pads, rags, stains, solvents, and other waste.

Why use wood-look composite for your outdoor deck?

Easy maintenance, for one. Composite decking—an amalgam of ground-up wood and plastic formed into planks—doesn’t need to be sealed, stained, or painted. Natural wood may need to be restained as often as every two years and resealed as frequently as once a year.
